“Pushkin on the shore of the Black Sea” – I.K. Aivazovsky

I.K. Aivazovsky, “Pushkin on the shore of the Black Sea” 1887. At one of the exhibitions in St. Petersburg (1836) two artists met – a painter of the pen and a painter of the brush. The acquaintance with Pushkin made an indelible impression on the young Aivazovsky. “Since then, my already beloved poet has become the subject of my thoughts, inspiration and long conversations and stories about him,” the artist recalled.
